The Telecommunications Operator performs core activities which include the main hospital console system.
Operators are responsible for operating a busy multi-line telephone console while performing a wide variety of clerical work and other related duties as assigned.
Assists in calls where speed and accuracy are essential.
Utilizes and completes programming for in house paging system, monitors all alarm panels, dispatches all codes, emergencies, and provides help desk support for other departments.
This position has responsibilities that span the entire hospital.
All duties should be performed in a manner that promotes teamwork and reflects the mission and culture of Silver Cross Hospital.
Answer incoming calls, greeting callers, providing information, and transferring calls.
Assists callers in determining the proper department or person they want to be connected.
Assists in calls where speed and accuracy are essential.
Performs clerical duties such as typing, filling, documenting, and other miscellaneous duties.
Maintains an organized Directory with updated information such as on-call schedules, updated and current telephone numbers/addresses, etc.
Follows all HIPPS laws and regulations.
Route emergency calls appropriately.
Contacts security and maintenance staff members when necessary.
Work Shift Details:
Afternoons, Working as needed.
Covering for PTO, call offs, scheduled holidays.
Must be able to work all shifts.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
