PAT/Pre Op/PACU Registered Nurse-PRN and Full Time Opportunities (6971-147)

We are looking for a dynamic top-performer with solid knowledge of PAT, Pre- operative and PACU/ Recovery Nursing. We are a new surgery center with a joint-venture partnership with Silver Cross Hospital. The preoperative area is the first transition in care for a surgical patient and should be considered a critical dimension of care. The nurse's contributions to the surgical team in this role as trifold; they will manage pre-admission duties, pre-op care and post-op care in an ambulatory setting. A distinct candidate understands their role in the preoperative assessment, transitioning effectively into preoperative care and acts as advocate who identifies the patient's needs and risk factors that may be affected by the surgical experience post-operation.
Essential Functions Including PAT responsibilities:
Accountable that patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights and guest relations, provides education for patients and collaborates with other disciplines.
Conducts Perioperative Phone Screening of pre-operative surgical patients and makes pre-operative calls to provide arrival time and instructions to patients going for surgery.
Responsible for organizing and directing activities in accordance with nursing standards and other applicable federal, state and local guidelines. PAT RN may assume the following PAT responsibilities: contact, by way of telephone, all patients prior to surgery to assess medical and medication history, review for appropriate lab, x-ray, EKG orders to determine where and when these procedures are to completed and provide preadmission teaching.
Call patients (24-48 hours after procedures- post op calls).
Will work very closely with other resources both external and internal departments. It will be necessary to track issues that are trending from calls and need to make sure we have action plans with follow up to report in a timely manner.
Assumes all other duties of pre-op and post operative care and responsibilities the day of scheduled surgery.
Required Skills
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Current Illinois Nursing License
Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Minimum 2 year experience in a hospital setting
Ability to recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, hospital staff, physicians, vendors and the public.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, openness, receptive to change, creativity and innovative.
Excellent communication skills
Ability to adapt to change quickly, strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient
Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation
Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics
Excellent teaching skills
Basic knowledge of Performance Improvement ideology
Required Experience
Experience working in an ASC is a plus.
Must be team-oriented and patient-focused.
Ability to interact positively with physicians, patients and their families tantamount in this role. Ability to project positive attitude and appearance, promote good public relations, a solid knowledge of information gathering techniques and some legal issues involved is also required. An exceptional candidate will exhibit excellent communication skills both to internal and external audiences. They will also possess good organization habits, the ability to adapt to change quickly, and a strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient. Excellent assessment and patient education skills are highly lauded.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
